Dr. Martijn Tilanus is a general pediatrician who studied at the University of Utrecht School of Medicine. He has completed pediatric residencies at the Children’s Hospital in Bocholt, Germany, and at the former St. Elizabeth Hospital in Curacao as well as various hospitals in the Netherlands. Dr. Tilanus is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Life Support (NLS) and has been a Pediatrician at SMMC since 2013.

Dr. Evelyn van der Plas trained as a general pediatrician at the Amsterdam University Medical Center and obtained her Ph.D. in Amsterdam on the topic of undescended testis in the field of pediatric urology. She enjoys working with children of all ages – from newborns to adolescents and is specifically involved with juvenile diabetes and pediatric endocrinology.
During her pediatric residency, she worked in Curacao and enjoyed the Dutch Caribbean so much that after completing her training as a medical doctor, she returned to Curacao with her family. Dr. van der Plas joined SMMC in 2022 and is a certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor and a member of SMMC’s Medical Ethics Committee and CPR Committee.
She speaks English, Dutch, Spanish i un tiki Papiamentu.
