Ever so often a patient is left with such incredible service that they go above and beyond to show their gratitude. Recently, Mr. Bernstein showed the St. Maarten Medical Center just such gratitude.

On World Sickle Cell Day, June 19th, the Sint Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) held a conference in collaboration with the Sint Maarten Sickle Cell Foundation (SSCF) in an effort to create a platform where medical professionals and patients could take part in a discussion about the Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).

In our community there is a common health disorder that is hiding in plain sight among a great number of men in our community. Doctors see it in their practice on a regular: men continuously struggling to lead healthy lifestyles; men who have metabolic syndrome.

The Supervisory Council of the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) has appointed Dr. Felix Holiday to the Board of Directors, in which Dr. Holiday will hold the position of Medical Director.

“It is a calling” - The Sint Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) has over 200 nurses on staff; each of whom play their part in saving lives on our island every day. Nursing, it is not a glamorous job but one that every one of us needs at a certain point of our lives. Unfortunately, we don’t often take the time to show how grateful we are for the patience, empathy, care and hard work our nurses put into their jobs.
